What & Why ABA Therapy

There are many autism treatments available, and most of them claim promising results. How do you know if these claims are true? Is there concrete evidence that the treatment works? Choosing the right treatment is in the best interest of your child and should be worth the commitment and resources. So the question is: why ABA? There are many anecdotes that appear to support numerous treatments. ABA stands out because its foundation is the collection and review of direct observational data.

In order to understand ABA therapy, it’s important to learn more about the large field of scientific study called behavior analysis. Within "behavior analysis" researchers use distinct principles to understand the relationship between a child’s behavior and their environment, and how one can influence the other. Behavior analysis is a recognized profession that requires specialized training and regulatory practices, overseen by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board® (BACB®).

Applied Behavior Analysis involves many techniques for understanding and changing behavior. ABA is a flexible treatment:

Can be adapted to meet the needs of each unique person. Provided in many different locations – at home, at school, and in the community. Teaches skills that are useful in everyday life

Other important target areas of ABA include social skills, play skills, potty training, self-care skills (brushing teeth, washing hands, etc.), and day-to-day living skills (getting dressed, table manners, etc.).

Early Intervention

Statistics show that the earlier you seek therapy for your child, the better the outcome. Our full range of Applied Behavior Analysis will ensure your child receives the best care for every phase of development.

Our extensive team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Behavior Technicians truly believe in "Therapy with Love." We can help you overcome most obstacles in the way of your child’s more fulfilling future. With our guidance and support and your engagement, your child can receive the most beneficial treatment possible—beginning with the initial diagnosis, throughout his or her school years, and well into adult life.

Therapy and support at an early age can have a direct effect on your child’s brain development. This can change the course of your child’s life. With early and intensive therapy, your child can communicate better, letting you know basic things like what hurts or what they want. This reduces problem behaviors and boosts your child’s ability to learn.

We help children get ready to take their next steps in the community — like starting daycare, school or a long-term ABA program. Depending on your child, this could mean teaching them to communicate, follow verbal instructions, interact with others, reduce behavior problems, increase self-soothing actions or become toilet trained.
